KEVIN BURKE
Kevin Burke is a nonprofit professional, having served in various capacities for organizations around Birmingham. While he remains devoted to serving the community, Kevin’s true passion lies in fitness and helping others make positive changes in their lifestyle. After struggling with weight most of his life, he made the decision to begin his personal journey of changing daily habits to reflect a healthier lifestyle long term. To date, he has completed 18 marathons and four ultra-marathons, while maintaining a healthy weight.

MARTIN TAYLOR
Martin Taylor is a nonprofit professional from Fort Payne, AL. In 2005, he moved south to Birmingham to earn his BA and MPA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Since then, he has worked in local organizations around the greater Birmingham area. Raised by his mother, a retired Marine, Martin can’t recall a time when health wasn’t a priority. Physical fitness has always been a way of life, and he continues to structure his life around practicing healthy daily habits.

TIM GRIFFIN

Lia distinguishes herself by having a strict adherence to proper form and safety. She brings a raw tenacity and pure grit to your fitness goals by combining functional training and new school techniques.

KATE OATIE OATMAN
Oatie has a passion for health and living better, with over five years of experience coaching CrossFit. As a CF-L2 certified coach, she specializes in functional movement and believes that fitness should empower people in every stage of life. Oatie has worked with groups and individuals of all ages and abilities, helping them build strength, confidence, and resilience inside and outside the gym. Her coaching style blends encouragement with accountability, meeting clients where they are and guiding them toward lasting progress. Dedicated to making fitness both challenging and approachable, Oatie is ready to help you become the best version of yourself.

AUSTIN BLACKWELL
Austin Blackwell has been a trainer at Phase Gym for over five years, after spending six months shadowing owner and trainer Martin Taylor. With a specialization in strength and conditioning, Austin focuses on building strong foundations that help clients meet their goals both inside and outside the gym. His coaching style emphasizes discipline, consistency, and pushing past perceived limits, while always making fitness approachable. Whether he’s training athletes, busy professionals, or beginners, Austin believes in tailoring workouts to support long-term health and sustainable progress.
